A 20th-century African American work song. Although it came before him, Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter is often credited as the writer. In 1977, Black Betty was remade as a rock song by Ram Jam and went on to be covered by many others. In the case of Varaluz, Black Betty denotes the elaborately Handcrafted black metal work supporting the opal white glass globes.
